Tabiyat: Medicine & Healing in India (Documentary & Exhibition)
Two films were commissioned by Wellcome Trust U.K. for Medicine Corner, A Wellcome Collection India Project in relation to their exhibition ‘Tabiyat: Medicine and Healing in India’.
The exhibition examined the history and contemporary practice of sustaining human health in one of the world’s great civilisations. The exhibition featured dazzling antiquities and modern vernacular art in an aesthetically seductive, intellectually rich mix of art, science, history and the ordinary made extraordinary.
The documentary film looks at how this exhibition echoes with contemporary life and practices in the city of Mumbai. Whereas the exhibition film gives viewers a synopsis of the show at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (formerly known as Prince of Wales Museum) in Mumbai.
